Side Bends:

Moving our bodies in a side bending way is something we do not do very often in our daily lives, but, as you will see below, side bending has many benefits. Side bends can be practiced seated (on the floor or in a chair), in table pose, standing on your knees, standing up, or lying down.

Benefits:

·       Opens the rib cage,

·       Expands the chest,

·       Increases lung capacity,

·       Improves circulation,

·       Improves posture,

·       Opens and stretches the intercostal muscles (between the ribs)

·       Stretches the muscles on the side of the body,

·       Brings balance to both sides of the body,

·       Reduces stress and anxiety.
