It is Halloween month! In keeping with the theme of ghosts, zombies and all that goes with it, we’re taking a closer look at Corpse Pose or Savasana (Sa-vas-an-a). This is an advanced pose. It’s hard to lie on the floor and just breathe and not fidget or get up. Read on to learn more about this restful pose.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe Halloween.
Namaste,

Savasana – Basic Relaxation Pose – Corpse Pose
Practice this pose at the end of your yoga session or any time of the day.
This pose is a lot more than just lying on the floor. It’s a very purposeful resting pose. In the quiet stillness of this pose, you have the opportunity to bring together all the actions and instructions and sensations you experienced during practice. In Savasana, we allow ourselves to just BE and move away from having to be doing something.
Different ways to set up for Savasana

You can mix and match these variations. Some days you might want a traditional Savasana but add a blanket or pillow behind your head. Find your best version of this pose to allow yourself some rest and relaxation. If you have the time, stay in this pose for 10 to 15 minutes. Even a short Savasana for five minutes is beneficial.
Benefits:
Cures fatigue and jet lag.
Brings you back to a natural state of balance.
Restores blood pressure, respiratory rate, and brain waves.
Facilitates better digestion, improved fertility, and speeding healing.
Studies suggest improved immune system function when practiced regularly.
Reduces stress, mild depression, and anxiety.
Reduces insomnia.
Calms and centers the mind.
